A Letter From Our President | Fall 2019

Laurie DuBow once told me that God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason.  For those of you who know Laurie well, you know that he is a good listener and when he speaks, it is always worth hearing.  Earlier this year, The Community Foundation commissioned the Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP.org) to conduct a Donor Perception Report.  This tool helps community foundations across the country “better understand what their donor’s value and how that aligns with their role in the community.”

I’m pleased to report that 40% of our donors responded to the survey, the highest percentage of respondents in the history of the CEP survey.  We are very appreciative to our donors for taking the time to complete the survey and I can assure you that we are listening.

Our Staff and Trustees are currently synthesizing the wealth of information contained in the full report and will use it to inform our strategic planning process that will begin in January 2020.  I can share that The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, your community’s foundation, received the highest average rating in donor’s overall satisfaction with the foundation of any community foundation ever surveyed by CEP.

One rating that made me particularly proud was the high rating we received for our “wealth of knowledge about non-profits and their needs in the community.”  Our fall newsletter provides you an opportunity for us to share what we are learning and shine a light on the important and transformational work being done by our non-profit partners in the communities we serve.  Please call us if you would like to learn more about any of the grants or initiatives highlighted here or if we can help you research an issue that matters to you.  We’re listening.
